  • Job Description

    Description: The Editor-Writer shall be responsible for producing classified and unclassified historical publications and articles based on manuscripts provided by the Center for Cryptologic History (CCH); converting the manuscripts from Microsoft Word to Adobe InDesign; and editing the following CCH products, as directed by the Chief, CCH Publications Team: Cryptologic history monographs, Cryptologic history brochures, Cryptologic Quarterly, and Other publication products (Cryptologic History Calendar, Cryptologic History Symposium-related handouts, and others as required). The Editor-Writer shall perform publication support tasks to include: counting publication copies, maintaining metrics, mailing publications, and coordinating publication shipments and

    Responsibilities:

    • Produce classified and unclassified historical publications from transcripts.
    • Generate publications and articles based on manuscripts.
    • Convert Microsoft Word formatted manuscripts to Adobe InDesign.
    • Conduct editorial process utilizing generally accepted English language rules and style.
    • Edit, design, and format classified and unclassified monographs, brochures, professional journals, calendars, symposium handouts, and other printed material.
    • Perform publication support task to include: counting publication copies, maintaining metrics, mailing publications, and coordinating publication shipments and distribution events.

    Requirements: At least three years of experience with Microsoft Word, Adobe InDesign, scanning technology, and general desktop publishing principles; three years of experience in writing and editing documents to include a thorough knowledge of English grammar, style, and organization principles; three years of experience with the organization and terminology of the cryptologic process and system, as well as knowledge of the components and operation of the U.S. Intelligence Community.  Bachelor’s Degree or higher in English or in a directly related field. In lieu of the Bachelor’s Degree, an additional four years of directly related experience for a total of seven years may be substituted.
